Not having heard the album I was looking through reviews and found this from Nirmal Ghosh in Thailand and I think it says it all. I usually dislike live albums because of the extraneous noise, but the sheer energy of this performance makes everything else seem pale.
It is interesting to see the sound morph into techno trance in a live performance. I can never get tired of this album. Go for it! MENFI 2. NOKTA 3. IDA 4. Tekitoi isf the latest in a long line of probing, provocative and highly original Rachid Taha releases, is a punchy piece of French street lingo whose tone actually says something more like - Who the hell are you? I dreamed of singing my nightmares, says Taha.
The apocalyptic vision of a society careering into a wall was the impetus for a marathon of questioning; his motives, other people's motives, the dirty victory of experience over innocence, the root causes of the virulent anger and chaos that grips our world. That's what makes Tekitoi his most harrowing and yet fascinating album to date.
In the midst of it all there's Rock El Casbah, an homage to the late great Joe Strummer, a man's whose unvarnished honesty and lack of text-book punk cynicism made him a hero, to Taha and to many others. This album was a limited edition double album including 2 extra songs and an additional 50 minute DVD. This live Paris album was released in and has the same tracks as on both the LP and the CD and wonderful they are as well. TAILA 2. HMAMA 7. The band Raina Rai was formed in in Paris and this cassette was their first album which was released in by Sadi Disques.
Some very nice guitar play and singing from Attar Lotfi is backed up by keyboard player Chekhi Tarik and percussionist and singer Djellouli Hachemi. There is a clip from every track so do have a listen. MAYMI 8. From the western hills of Algeria via the suberbs of Paris come the six Seba brothers, percussionists Mohamed, Abdel-illah, Abdel-ouab, guitarists Farid and Houari plus singer only Ahmed.
Beautifully played, gorgeously sung and the music just throbs from start to finish. Definitely recommended if you like contempory Rai at its best. Souad's second album sees her applying her cool, sweet, flexible voice and folksy guitar to songs about love, parental concerns, and the universal longing for personal freedom. She studied Arab-Andalusian tradition and this is plainly audible in her compositions and arrangements, but sounds from the Indian subcontinent, French Album), and American soft jazz have also seeped in.
The DVD is 52 minutes all about Souad. YEMMA 5. DEB 9. A live recording made on September 26th at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in front of a sell out audience of 18, fans. The album sales sent it Gold twice over in France. What an album. Cheb Taha died aged 59 in Please note that the clip for track 1 has been split to show the style of both the begining and the second half of the track.
There maybe only six tracks lasting thirty-seven minutes but what a superb set they are. Great sleeve notes about the lyrics and the artists. Both Record and sleeve in mint condition.
Have a listen to some classic Rai. A lovely original Rai from the 80's by some of the top artists of Album) time. Record and sleeve in mint condition. A lovely compilation from some top rated Rai singers and some you may never have heard of before.
Definitely some raw Rai at its gutsy best and some smooth more modern sounds as well. The story on the inlay tells of an imaginary Cafe where they only play Rai, and the best Rai at that.
Definitely sounds like my sort of watering hole so do have a listen to the clips. Both CD, case and inlays as new. Interesting album with some Album) tracks.
It said on the cover that there are 24 tracks but a quick look at the list will tell you it is actually 26 Northan African Grooves. I don't know where English company Delta Music had their discs made but they couldn't spell Northern.
Lots of big stars names and some I had never come across before. Both discs and the inlays are perfect but the case is a little bit scuffed and a small crack in the back cover. My favourite tracks are the ones with clips. DISC 1 1. DISC 2 1. Fifteen tracks from sixteen rai artists some of who everyone has heard of and some new faces as well. Very very nice indeed. I even liked Cheb Mami's Mama with its bit of rap in the middle and you can't go far wrong with Remitti, Khaled and Bellemou.
Condition as NEW, played once for clips. Great set of tracks from some of Rai's top artists and some from those that are less well known. Released back in on LP and next year on cassette. I haven't put clips in from the well known titles so have a listen to the clips of the less well known ones.
Condition as NEW only played once to record the clips. Another great set of tracks from a couple of Rai's top artists and the rest from those that are less well known. Released back in on LP and cassette. Again it must have proved very popular as it was issued on a double CD with the first volume. Once again I haven't put clips in from the well known titles so have a listen to the clips of the less well known ones.
I hadn't heard Cheb Mohamed Sghir or Bled - Rachid Taha - Barbès (CD Zohra until now but will be keeping a look out for them in the future. A wonderful forty-nine track compilation with the majority culled from the Blue Silver Label's recordings. A bit of a mistake on Disc No.
Track 5 is 8. Track 6 is 5. Easy to spot as it is the only male Bled - Rachid Taha - Barbès (CD female duet.
Other than that it is a cracking album of rarely heard rai songs. Condition as NEW except for a chip in the case underneath. Thirteen track compilation from some of rai's best known names and some you may never have heard of. The notes inside don't give you any information about the recordings just about the history of Rai. The tracks are all instrumental versions of some of the best known rai songs. All the tracks are marked as being by Ali Rostane with the exceptions of 6 and 7 which are marked DR and 4 which is Rostane and Idir and 5 which is marked Rostane and Wahbi.
RAHI Lovely set of early Rai tracks from Les artistes Arabes Associes. Featuring Cheb Khaled on tracks 1, 2 and 3, Cheb Tahar on tracks 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and lastly Cheb Mami on tracks 9 and Sold out but FREE download of my favorite tracks 6 and 10 available on request as either.
Top selling international album that really brought Rai to the attention of the world. The album was produced and mixed in the studio by the late Rachid Baba Ahmed.
